Grilled Avocado Burger

Are you overwhelmed by a surplus of Bermuda avocados due to the recent hurricane? No worries, we have a tasty solution for you! Fire up your grill, incorporate these luscious avocados into your burger patties, and top it with a dollop of homemade avocado crema. This isn't just a recipe, it's a culinary adventure waiting to happen!

Juicy grilled avocado burger


For the Crema:

  • 1 ripe avocado

  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream

  • 1 lime zested and juiced

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

For the Burger:

  • ½ ripe avocado

  • 1 pound ground beef 90% lean

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 4 hamburger buns for serving

  • Lettuce and tomato slices for serving


  1. Make the crema. In a food processor, combine all ingredients until creamy. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside in the fridge until ready to serve.

  2. Make the burgers. In a large bowl, mash the avocado. Add beef, salt and pepper and mix until combined. Form into 4-5 patties, about ½ inch thick.

  3. Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Brush the grill with oil and cook the burgers until seared and golden brown, 4 minutes per side.

  4. Transfer to a platter and serve with a bun, reserved avocado crema, and desired toppings.
